I spent a good part of this evening creating an RSS feed for books that are posted on Swap ‘Em. You can use this in any RSS reader you use. I prefer Google Reader myself. You can copy the link below into any one of these services and receive real-time updates of the books being posted on Swap ‘Em.

Please feel free to ask any questions about how to use this new feature. Thanks!

We have released a beta feature to add and search for custom course materials that are not in universal ISBN databases.
When you add a new book, you’ll notice a check box asking you if the book you’re adding is a custom material.

At this point, if you check the box, a new interface slides down asking for a title. From here the process is the same as adding other books.

When searching, you’ll notice a link at the top right of the results if there are custom materials posted for this course or for the title you searched.

This will not appear when searching ISBN numbers because these materials do not always come with ISBN numbers. If you click on this link, you’ll see a list of results that looks like the regular results but will only contain custom course materials.
We would appreciate any user feedback on this feature as we continue to develop Swap ‘Em. Thank you.

Today, I got a little busy because I wanted to make the search function easier to navigate through and for people to see more clearly what is posted by other users.
Now, when you search, you’ll see a general list of books that match your search, along with price and availability information. Click on the book you are searching for to get more detailed information about pricing and availability and seeing who is listing each book and the condition it is in.
Also, along with this new search, you now have the ability to add comments to books that you post. For books you have already posted, simply click on Edit in the action menu on your Bookshelf and add a comment for the book.
For any questions, email info@swapem.net. Thanks to everyone!

Anderson University,
What I’m introducing to you is a new revolutionary service for the AU campus. Starting November 3rd, Swap ‘Em will launch and the old and tired concepts of buying textbooks will become obsolete. I hope your paying attention to the advertising around campus and getting as excited as I am about this. I can’t wait to unveil this service and see a major change take place. Feel free to browse around here and read some of the information in the meantime. I hope you guys are ready!
